No Dumping Toxic Sludge

in Harrison

A Message from Mayoral Candidate Anselmo Millan

THE MAYOR HAS GIVEN THE EPA PERMISSION TO DUMP ON HARRISON!!

Twenty-six years ago when the redevelopment plan was created, the PSE&G property was identified as Recreational Space. I repeat: Recreational Space…..Twenty-six (26) year ago. But:

In a MEETING OF THE HARRISON REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, TOWN OF HARRISON AUGUST 29, 2022, the MAYOR, who is chairman of the Re-Development Agency, was asked when we will build the green space. He Responded “The biggest piece is Public Servicewe were going to do some planning over there, but the EPA is going to use it for the [Passaic] river dredge [aka sludge].  We don’t know how long that is going to be it could be 10 years”

Facts Not Lies. The Truth Spoken by Mayor Fife. He Knew. Why Didn’t He Sound the Alarm?

Click Share and Share this video on your Facebook or other Social Media.. Our health is to important not to have the truth known.

Put differently, Mayor Fife stated that Harrison is not planning on building green space there because the property is under agreement with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to be used to dump sludge from the Passaic River, where the sludge will be left in the open air to dry. The Passaic river is one of the most contaminated rivers in all of New Jersey and is contaminated with numerous toxins including Agent Orange that was used in the Vietnam War and that has caused numerous health issues for thousands of people.  Now they want to clean the river and remove this deadly chemical from the riverbed by first dumping it in our town with the casual permission of our mayor who casually acknowledged that this could be a ten-year period. To compound the insult, the dump site is in the middle of a very populated residential area. As the dredge spoils dry the particulate matter will become airborne. Can Mayor Fife tell  us what effect this will have on the residents of Harrison who will be breathing this poison on a daily basis? Did the mayor show any leadership or caring for our health when agreeing to this? NO!

History Channel: What is Agent Orange? It’s highly toxic.

For the sake of our families and especially our children I am calling upon every resident of Harrison to reject this action. I have organized a petition to Governor Murphy, to stop before it starts!  Sign the Petition Here:  https://rb.gy/revdhy

Why didn’t our current mayor consult with the people and provide us with the informed leadership we deserve.  If elected Mayor, I will provide such leadership. Rather than toxic sludge on that property I would follow the original agreement and provide green space with a park, a community Center with a pool and both an indoor and outdoor recreational area. And I would pay for it using grant funds rather than the municipal budget wherever possible. Remember that when a councilman I spearheaded the receipt of approximately $20 million in grant funds.

Its really simple. It’s about making the Town of Harrison a better place for all of us to live.

It’s about taking care of our investment, our Home,  our families.  I am the leadership the Town of Harrison needs. I owe nothing to special interests. Together you and I have the chance to bring Extraordinary Change to Harrison. BUT this cannot be done without your Help.  I NEED YOUR VOTE.  The current Leadership has been all talk and no action and Harrisonians have not benefitted from this Development.  It’s time for change, to put Harrisonians first

Sincerely,

Anselmo Millan

The biggest piece is Public Service the EPA is holding that up, we were going to do some planning over there, but the EPA is going to use it for the [Passaic] river dredge [aka sludge]. We don’t know how long that is going to be it could be 10 years But it’s up to the EPA and PSE&G to determine what is going on there

Elect the next Mayor of Harrison. Someone who would have never accepted a proposal to dump and dewater sludge from the Passaic River in what is now a Residential Area in the Town of Harrison. As a 45-year resident of Harrison, as an elected official of the Town of Harrison as Councilman, with a Record of Accomplishments Anselmo Millan will make sure NO Dumping of Sludge happens in the Town of Harrison. Harrison is no longer an industrial town. Harrison is now a residential town. The Dumping of Toxic Sludge is not an option in Harrison. The PSE&G property was recently decontaminated and is supposed to be a Green Space with a multi-level Community Center for use by all Harrisonians. Anselmo Millan's record demonstrates he will lead the team that builds a much-needed Community Center & Park for all residents.

Please Vote for Anselmo Millan on Column H (Last Column on the Ballot). H for a Better Harrison.

Thank you for your community involvement in fighting this proposal.
