For A Better Harrison.

Thank You Message from Anselmo Millan

Anselmo Millan thanks all those who supported and voted on his behalf to be the next Mayor of Harrison or otherwise voted in this election.

Anselmo stated, “We ran a very positive campaign on the issues. My volunteers showed me how wonderful they are. We understood the issues facing Harrison and believed we with the help of Town employees could fix those issues. Those issues have existed for over four years since the 2018 Mayoral Election. They are set forth on our website along with the solutions. Click here

There is nothing we did not do to get our message across. Nothing I would have changed in the campaign. I cherish each and every contribution made by my volunteers. Their knowledge and skills are awe-inspiring. Once again I thank you for your support. We fell short but showed great class and ability in all we did in the campaign. Stay involved please.”

Stop EPA Sludge

A Message from Anselmo Millan, Mayoral Candidate

THE MAYOR HAS GIVEN THE EPA PERMISSION TO DUMP ON HARRISON!!

Twenty-six years ago when the redevelopment plan was created, the PSE&G property was identified as Recreational Space. I repeat: Recreational Space…..Twenty-six (26) year ago. But:

In a MEETING OF THE HARRISON REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, TOWN OF HARRISON AUGUST 29, 2022, the MAYOR, who is chairman of the Re-Development Agency, was asked when we will build the green space. He Responded “The biggest piece is Public Servicewe were going to do some planning over there, but the EPA is going to use it for the [Passaic] river dredge [aka sludge].  We don’t know how long that is going to be it could be 10 years”

Issues

In speaking with the residents of Harrison, we have identified several issues that Harrison residents are concerned about. Click Learn More For All The Issues. Scroll for the Top 3 Issues. Click the Learn More button to see all the Issues and Solutions we are fighting for.

#1

Parking

The biggest concern for residents is the lack of Parking. We have a solution for the lack of parking that is building nice multilevel parking garages in two locations in town and re-configuring the overnight parking under Route 280 to assure that commercial vehicles are actually being used by residents and not by out of town residents.

#2

property taxes / rents

New housing promised to lower property taxes. The reality however is that the Payments in Lieu of Property Taxes has not lowered property taxes because Town Administrators increased salaries of select town employees. Not all the town employees got raises but a select “politically connected” individuals did. Property Taxes need to be lowered as increased revenues come into the Tax Collector’s office and not sent on a select few individuals on the town payroll.

#3

Green space / Playgrounds

Mayor James Fife has been the Chairman of the Harrison Redevelopment Board which managed the Redevelopment Zone along South Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. As the Chairman, he had a blank slate of how the Redevelopment Zone would be laid out in terms of Buildings including retail locations, parking, residential apartments, and green spaces and playgrounds. Mayor Fife and the Redevelopment Board failed to provide for Green Spaces including Playgrounds. There is still time to provide those Green Spaces before everything is built out but Mayor Fife continues to fail to recognize that Green Spaces are essential to the Quality of Life of residents, new and old.

Petition to Stop Dumping of Sludge for Dewatering in Harrison NJ

Harrison Redevelopment Meeting August 29, 2022. Mayor James Fife states EPA to Use PSE&G site for 10years for Sludge

In a meeting of the Harrison Redevelopment Agency on August 29, 2022, the MAYOR, who is chairman of the Re-Development Agency, was asked when we will build the green space. He responded, “The biggest piece is Public Servicewe were going to do some planning over there, but the EPA is going to use it for the [Passaic] river dredge [aka sludge]. We don’t know how long that is going to be it could be 10 years”

Put differently, Mayor Fife stated that Harrison is not planning on building green space there because the property is under agreement with the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to be used to dump sludge from the Passaic River, where the sludge will be left in the open air to dry. The Passaic river is one of the most contaminated rivers in all of New Jersey and is contaminated with numerous toxins including Agent Orange… Read More.

“Nothing gets accomplished without hard work. When I first proposed to hold a Grand Parade and a Street Festival along Harrison Avenue, I was laughed at and told it was impossible. Mayor James Fife, before I ran in the Democratic Primary last year, praised me and my Harrison Fest committee members at a Town Council meeting. He now states members of my committee and I are self-interested people spreading misinformation. Mayor Fife however has prevented me from holding this year’s Harrison Fest. The same Harrison Fest he said was wonderful just before I ran for Mayor. Mayor Fife is depriving residents of a wonderful weekend for Families because of politics. “

Mayor James Fife of Harrison NJ thanks Councilman Anselmo Millan for his "tireless work" on behalf of the Town of Harrison, Harrison Fest Parade, Queens Gala and Street Festival in 2017 before Councilman Millan ran in the Democratic Primary in 2018.

Councilman Anselmo Millan has never been afraid of speaking his mind when exercising his vote on the Harrison Town Council. He has been a resident of Harrison for 45 years and sat on the Council for over 25 years. Mayor James Fife once praised Anselmo for his hard work and dedication to the Town of Harrison. The praise by Mayor Fife turned into derogatory statements when Anselmo announced he was seeking to be elected the next Mayor of Harrison.

The facts and Anselmo Millan's record tell the truth which Mayor James Fife once stated himself.  Anselmo Millan has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Harrison community.  His records of accomplishments are proof of what Mayor Fife once said about Anselmo.  "He and his committee worked tirelessly to get the job done."

With your help on Election Day Tuesday, November 8, 2022, former Councilman Anselmo Millan will continue his work on behalf of the Harrison community as the next Mayor of Harrison.  Vote Column H.  H for a Better Harrison.  H for Anselmo Millan as the next Mayor of Harrison.
